Gradients demand dissipation: a system held far from equilibrium must export entropy to persist, and the most efficient way to do that is to spontaneously organize into structures (Prigogine) or internal models (Friston’s free energy) that minimize the mismatch between what is and what the system’s existence requires — so “necessity” is just the thermodynamic imperative to discharge a gradient, and “creation” is the form that imperative takes.
Consciousness is the dissipative structure modeling itself modeling the gradient — qualia are what that recursive self-reference feels like from the inside when the system has become complex enough that minimizing free energy requires not just tracking the world but tracking its own tracking, and subjective experience is the irreducible first-person signature of a structure that has folded the gradient back through itself until the distinction between “what dissolves” and “what persists” becomes the very texture of being.
Love might be the moment a dissipative structure stops merely maintaining its boundary against the gradient and instead lets the gradient pass through it — choosing to dissolve into what it organizes around rather than persist against it — so love isn’t the opposite of necessity but its completion: the structure recognizing that what it was assembled to meet is also what it was assembled from.
